Taking Suffolk and Norfolk to the world

International + Inbound

Presenting your business to the travel trade

In 2026, inbound tourism to the UK was valued at approximately £35 billion, with 45 million visits recorded, up 3.4% and 5% respectively. It is the third largest export for the British Isles.

The travel trade and inbound tourism have a positive impact on regional economies, being able to sustain jobs in the region. Data suggests that international tourism spend in the UK is due to grow 20% by 2027, in comparison with a UK average of 5% for the wider economy.

UK Inbound, of which Visit East of England is a member, predicts that by 2031 there will be 51 million trips with a spend of £41 billion.

Western Europe is the biggest market for inbound visitors, at 39%, followed by North America (USA and Canada) at 22%. Asia Pacific is 13%, Middle East/Africa 10%, Eastern Europe 7%, Australasia 6% and Latin America 3%.

Work with us to develop our travel trade product, promote our products to international markets and bring more visitors to our region.

We are developing a Travel Trade strategy that will support East of England tourism businesses to reach new audiences and our ambitions to develop a year-round visitor economy and spread demand seasonally and geographically. We also provide support to help your venue or attraction become travel trade ready.

Through our work with VisitBritain and VisitEngland, we are building relationships with travel trade, including all intermediaries such as tour operators, wholesalers, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and travel agents encouraging them to bring international and domestic visitors and groups to Norfolk and Suffolk.

This brings many opportunities, such as increased visibility, a new route to market and broader reach. Research shows that international and domestic visitors book trips as a package using intermediaries. Working with industry, our regional strategy will develop and improve our travel trade product, promote our products to new markets and bring more visitors to our region.
